Information We Collect
Location Data
When you upload a record of your walk we pass it through an analysis programme that extracts metadata from your walk. This includes the following information:
| Identity | |
user_id | UID of the dog owner the walk is attributed to |
co_walker_uid | UID of the person who recorded it (only when different from owner) |
timezone_offset_hours | Player's UTC offset at time of upload |
| Timing | |
analyzed_at | When the walk was processed |
created_at | Same as above |
start_time | First GPS waypoint timestamp |
end_time | Last GPS waypoint timestamp |
duration_seconds | Total walk duration |
| Pattern | |
pattern_type | 1=Out-and-Back, 0=Single Loop, 8=Figure-of-Eight |
num_loops | Raw loop count (0, 1, 2+) |
distance_meters | Total track length |
| Direction & Bearings | |
direction | Clockwise or counter-clockwise — loop walks only |
start_bearing_deg | Compass bearing of the first few waypoints |
start_centroid_bearing_deg | Bearing from start point to centroid |
| Out-and-Back walks only | |
start_midpoint_bearing_deg | Bearing from start to the turnaround point |
bearing_delta_deg | Angular difference between start→centroid and start→midpoint |
centroid_to_start_m | Distance from centroid to the start/finish point |
centroid_to_midpoint_m | Distance from centroid to the turnaround point |
time_start_to_midpoint_s | Outbound leg duration in seconds |
time_midpoint_to_finish_s | Return leg duration in seconds |
half_time_delta_s | Absolute difference between outbound and return times |
| Single Loop walks only | |
loop_area_m2 | Area enclosed by the loop in m² |
centroid_distances_m | Array of 4 distances [start, ¼, ½, ¾] from centroid |
| Figure-of-Eight walks only | |
figure_eight.loop1_area_m2 | Area of first lobe |
figure_eight.loop2_area_m2 | Area of second lobe |
figure_eight.area_ratio | Ratio of smaller to larger lobe (1.0 = equal) |
figure_eight.loop1_direction | Clockwise or counter-clockwise |
figure_eight.loop2_direction | Clockwise or counter-clockwise |
figure_eight.loop1_centroid_bearing_deg | Bearing from start to lobe 1 centroid |
figure_eight.loop2_centroid_bearing_deg | Bearing from start to lobe 2 centroid |
figure_eight.loop_bearing_spread_deg | Angular spread between the two lobe centroids |
| Track Statistics | |
waypoint_count | Number of GPS fixes recorded |
bbox | North/south/east/west bounding box |
bbox_width_m | Width of bounding box in metres |
bbox_height_m | Height of bounding box in metres |
max_dist_from_start_m | Furthest point from the start |
total_turning_deg | Sum of all bearing changes — measures path complexity |
avg_sample_interval_s | Average time between GPS fixes |
avg_speed_ms | Average speed in m/s |
pace_cv | Pace consistency (0 = perfectly steady) |
| Elevation | |
elevation_gain_m | Total ascent |

elevation_min_m | Lowest point |
elevation_max_m | Highest point |
elevation_range_m | Difference between highest and lowest |
Along with the time zone of the player (derived from the GPX file) we record the coarse location of the average of all walks completed by a player. This coarse location is rounded or snapped to a larger area with a 1km radius. This obscured location is not published on our website.
Please note that no location information is stored in the Doggo 108 game apps, the Doggo 108 website or the Doggo 108 game servers which are hosted by Google Firebase. Files containing latitudes and longitudes are deleted as soon as they are processed — this takes less than half of one second.
The GPX files that are uploaded to our geographic processing server are deleted as soon as they are processed and the metadata extracted.
Reminder Service
Players get regular emails from Doggo 108 reminding them of their next challenge and their score. Players can opt out of this service at any time.
